Established in 2017, Miss Gay Melrose America is the sixth Arizona State preliminary pageant to the Miss Gay America national competition - founded in 1972. From the onset, it has been our intent to share this vision, to enhance the art of female illusion as promoters, with the desire to foster the Miss Gay Melrose America pageant into the "best of the best."
Miss Gay America is very similar in nature to the Miss America or Miss USA system as nationally televised, except that the contestants are men impersonating women. It is not easy to win this title as it takes talent, creativity, glamour, elegance, sophistication, a desire to entertain, to successfully create the illusion, and most importantly to thrive as a leader of their local communities. Physically, with no body augmentation allowed below the neck, many contestants rely on breast pads, hip pads, extravagant clothing, hairstyle and makeup, to merge into a winning combination that will score high enough to become Miss Gay Melrose America - a stepping stone to Miss Gay Arizona America and ultimately Miss Gay America.
Each year at the Miss Gay Melrose America competition, the contestants complete an entire day of competition. Categories of the competition include Talent, Male Interview, Evening Gown, Onstage Question and Pageant Presentation. The Male Interview category validates the male persona wherein contestants are interviewed in male business suit attire to truly allow the judges the opportunity to meet the contestants as they are and understand the contestants point of view on a wide variety of personal and public topics.
Talent, is designed to showcase the contestants ability to entertain an audience. Evening Gown, displays the true elegance, glamour, sophistication and poise of the contestant. On-Stage Question, allows the contestants to show their ability to effectively and intelligently communicate with the audience. Each of the aforementioned categories are designed to produce a well rounded Miss Gay Melrose America recipient that can lead, educate, and blaze a trail in their community for those to follow. Amazingly, contestants can spend thousands of dollars each year in preparation for this contest for the purchase of gowns, production and dance crew, props and more.
The winner wins big. The title holder receives a prize package including cash, jewelry and a variety of gifts and sponsored packages as well as club and private venue engagements scheduled throughout the year of her reign. The newly crowned Miss Gay Melrose America can earn as much as $30,000 during her reign as Miss Gay Melrose America - in cash, prizes, travel, appearance fees and more. This, combined with the prestige of holding such a respected title, certainly makes all of the "blood, sweat, and tears" and amazing lifetime achievement.
This spectacular Miss Gay America pageant has become the most prestigious, most respected, the oldest and the largest, pageant system for female impersonators. Owned by Mad Angel Entertainment, the pageant system continues to grow and entertain audiences worldwide. And, the next great talent is on her way...
